Today started off just fine! Yet I had an incident that triggered a trauma I wish I wasn’t still affected by. 5 and half years ago I was attacked by a Boxer dog on leash with it’s owner, walking into a Starbucks. I had a good sized bite mark above my knee that is still scarred. I was alone, traumatized, and haven’t gotten over it...yet. Today I was at a grand opening for a new housing development meeting a client for the first time. Didn’t realize the models weren’t ready for viewing today. Already scrambling for information in a crowded sales office, I encounter a pit bull on a leash. I remarked aloud without looking at anyone in particular, “ I can’t believe they’re allowing dogs in here!” The owner responded with a dirty look as I scurried away to the other side of the room. Since the models were not available to view, and it was a supposed, ‘Grand Opening’ there was a group filling the space smaller than a 2 car garage. I managed to avoid them until I was talking with my new client in the walkway and confronted by their exit. I lead us across the path onto the grass. As they walked by with the dog, they exclaimed their disgust in my questioning a dog be inside a real estate sales office, explaining they have a ‘service trained’ dog though it wasn’t wearing a vest identifying it as so, and claiming their orange leash collar made it obvious balking at my reaction and saying I was the one acting like an animal! The dog certainly wasn’t the issue. I obviously overreacted. The trauma trigger is clear to me. How to move onward is not. Embarrassedly I exclaimed I was afraid of dogs! My client graciously accepted this scene with a kind comment and we moved on with the remainder of our tour. Mortified. I carried on with every ounce of professionalism I have and ended the appointment on a high note. I recognize I need help as my behavior is less acceptable than any other dog I’ve encountered since I was attacked. It seems to be certain larger breeds like Boxers/Bull type dogs. I’m ok with smaller and larger friendly type dogs. Confined spaces cause me to lash out unexpectedly at the owner. I wish this was an isolated incident. I am hoping coming clean on this

Who should I be following to help me accomplish this DIY dream? The tile is better than the flagstone of the ‘80’s it was prior. It’s neutral and fine. And I certainly don’t want to go to the expense of re-doing this space. #beautify it is the goal. That’s where stencil painting came to mind.
